Long time since I updated. And i think I mostly update this for Colton to read in the future, so I should be more diligent I guess :-) My little man is just growing like a weed. He measured in at 14lbs 13oz at his 4 month appointment on July 6th. He was 24 3/4 inches long. He is smiling, laughing, giggling, jumping, trying to sit up, eating cereal, prunes, sweet peas, almost rolling over, and trilling his tongue! He is so amazing smart and happy. Pretty much the happiest baby I have ever seen :-)
We feel so blessed to be able to be his mommy and daddy and share all of these magic moments with him. He is a complete joy and makes me the happiest mommy in the world.
I need to post some new pics, will do soon :-)

I have my nursing license!!! Oh ya, and Colton is going to be 3 months on Friday!!
This week marks a few big moments in the life of our little family. I found out that I am OFFICIALLY a nurse in the state of Ohio. I passed the NCLEX on the first try this past Saturday! I am super siked and now I am going to start looking for a job...thats the only sad part. I am going to miss all the free time home with my little man!
I have slacked quite a bit on updating the blog. Colton is smiling ALL THE TIME, and giggled for the first time last week. He is huge and has graduated to a size 2 diaper. He makes all kinds of new noises and is also trying to roll over now! He is getting so big and grown up. I am so excited to see all of his new movements and hear all his new noises!

Almost ten weeks...
I have been slacking on updates...but here is what's new!Colton has discovered his voice. He makes all of these wonferful little noises that I just love. He even startles himself sometimes with them! He can growl, and even make these girly sounding little shrieks. He is a little wiggle worm and is starting to work those stomach mucsles to try and sit up! When he is on his back or reclined he tries to ball himself up and looks like he is attempting a sit-up and his face gets real red. If you help him by pulling his arms a little he sits up! He really takes in the way everything looks from that position and then protests when you lay him back down.He went to the doctor yesterday and he is all the way up to 11 lbs 10 oz! He has almost doubled his size since birth! I cannot believe my little man is so big! He is so huge compared to that little 6 pound baby I brought home from the hospital. Not much else new is happening in our little world...Just taking it one day at a time and enjoying all the new things our little man does!

First Mothers Day and Colton is 9 Months Old
Sunday I celebrated my FIRST mothers day as a mommy! I wasn't pregnant for mothers day last year, so this is my first mothers day really! It was so sweet! David brought me home roses on Friday night and then Sunday morning, at 12:00 AM, he gave me a card and chocolate. It was sooooooooo sweet! He made it so special, and I will never forget it.
Colton turned 9 weeks old on Thursday. He is growing so fast. He hasn' really started doing anything new, he is recongnizing us more. He grins during feedings, it looks like he is trying to tell us he loves us, at least I like to think so!
Like here is good, not too much else to say!

My 8 weeks little booger...

Colton is really growing and learning soooooooooooo fast. He is smiling, laughing, cooing, and "talking back" pretty consistently now and he amazes us everyday with his new noises and faces. He is a really happy baby unless he is hungry, then he is mad mad mad until there is a bottle in his mouth. He is funny too...he tattles...now let me explain! When he gets mad at one of us he waits until the other one is in the room and wines these little wimpers to the other parent! He smiles and then frowns (so we know he is just playing) but it is sooooo funny to see.
He is an amazing baby and makes us laugh all the time. He is continuing to sleep through the night with one feeding in the wee hours of the morning.
We love him anyways...lol

7 weeks and going strong....
Colton has grown and changed so much more since I wrote last. He smiles ALL THE TIME!! He coos and seems like he is trying to talk to us, and seems frustrated when we don't understand! He is such an amazing little baby and I am so greatful that my family has given me the chance to stay home and enjoy every moment of his life so far!
Sadly, I am about to start venturing out and looking for my first job as a nurse. I have already had a few leads for some doctors offices so I am looking into those. I just wish I didn't have to leave my little man! But David and I are gonna work out our schedules so he is always either with one of us or with my parents, so that is good news!
Colton is such a joy, he is learning and growing so much. He is already up to 9 pounds and 9 ounces, as of last Monday and is growing in lenth too. I believe he was up to 21 1/2 inches. He is right on track! He has met all of his milestones so far, and I think he is going to be an early walker because he bears weight on his legs already! That is a big milestone! We are having such a good time being parents and look forward to whats to come! I can't wait to have another...

First shots today...

Colton went to the doctor today and had his first shots :-( He did wonderful! He was such a strong little man. He cried during the shots, but as soon as she was done he just looked around the room and stopped crying. He is such a little trooper. He has had a low-grade fever today and has been really sleepy, but he is doing so well :-)
His thrush is all cleared up too. It took some really purple medicine to clear it up, but its finally gone after 2 weeks of sticking to his mouth!!
He is such a cute little boy! I am enjoying every moment with this little boy!!

My little man smiles now!!
So Sunday April 19th Colton decided to smile for the first time! I had been waiting patiently for him to finally smile....and he finally did! My mom was changing him Sunday morning and he gave her the biggest grin I have ever seen. Unfortunately I didn't catch that first smile on camera, but yesterday I had my camera ready and right before his bath he flashed me a big old cheesey smile. He is getting so big too. Saturday morning at the doctor's office he weighed a proud 8 pounds 10 ounces. Tuesday morning....9 pounds and 7 ounces! Almost a whole pound weight increase! I couldn't believe my little chunky monkey gained that much! He loves his new rice cereal/formula/karo syrup bottles so that must be why the big jump!!
He is doing so well, we are almost to a point where he is sleeping (almost) through the night, although last night he threw us a curve ball and refused to sleep longer than an hour at a time. Fortulately, David is really enjoying doing the mid-night feeding which I am totally ok with! David has been such an awesome help and I love him for it!

5 1/2 weeks...
Colton is 5 1/2 weeks old! I can't believe my little boy is growing so fast! All is well with our little family. Colton is battling a pretty bad case of thrush in his mouth, but you would never know because the little thing never even let on that he was in pain. He is also still fighting acid reflux. We took him back to the doctor Saturday morning and were given some more things to try to keep him from choking on his formula. They also decided to order a modified barium swallow with a speech therapist at Childrens Hospital which will probably be done some time next week. We are thickening his bottles now with baby cereal and he seems way more satisfied with his food so he is sleeping way longer stretches, something that mommy and daddy really appreciate! He looks bigger, but actually has plateued at around 9 pounds. 9 pounds is a big just from his 6 pound 3 ounce birth weight. He is a little trooper and we are so proud of him. We went this afternoon and got his Easter/One month old pictures taken and they are absolutely adorable. We are a little late on getting the Easter shots done, but better late than never right?!?Things with David and I are great! We are just getting used to the late nights and extra-early mornings. We try our best to work as a team, and I think we are doing a pretty awesome job. We decided to pick back up on the wedding plans, i'm not telling anyone a date until we are absolutely sure since last time it kept getting moved, but it will definitely be a 2009 wedding. We think that now more than ever it is important to seal the deal on this relationship and be the best parents we can be for little Colton and make us a real family! Who knows, maybe 2010 will bring a new addition to our little family...

Easter 2009
Yesterday was Colton's first Easter! It was also our first Easter as a family. It was a really good day. We had breakfast at my parents house with all the immediate family and then we gave him his Easter basket, which he totally didnt even understand, but it was so cute :-) After that we all got ready and headed down to Hamilton to see David's family. They also got him a basket with all kinds of goodies in it. Even though Colton has no idea that he celebrated his first official holiday with us, it was still special!

Colton is here!
Colton was born on 3-12-09. He is an absolute joy and we adore every moment with him. He is a big boy already. He was born 20 inches long weighing a small 6 pounds and 3 ounces. At just 4 weeks he is already up to about 9 pounds. He has officially outgrown the newborn sized clothes and is starting to run out of room in newborn sized diapers. We had a little bit of a set-back with formula that required a trip to the pediatrician. Turns out out little man has acid-reflux and needs to be switched to soy formula and is going to need some medicine to control the reflux. We had wondered what was going on when he began being more fussy and cried a lot during his feedings. He seems to be tolerating the switch well, although he is not a fan of the medicine. He makes a cute little scrunchy face everytime we give it to him. Other than this minor problem he is completely healthy and thriving. We cannot wait to see whats next. Hopefully we will get a smile out of him soon!

32 Weeks Tomorrow!
Wow, how time flys!! Tomorrow we will hit week 32, 5 weeks until full term, 7 weeks to a possible induction??, and 8 weeks until D-Day when I will REQUEST an induction!! We are starting to get even more excited and aprehensive as we add a new week every Friday! Today was fun because we finally got the cradle mattress we have been waiting for! I washed all of the baby's clothes and put them away. Now we just need to wait for the baby shower so that we can find out what we still need to buy! I picked out the stroller/carseat combo that my dad will be buying for us (my Christmas/birthday present by the way). I pasted a picture below :-)
So basically right now we are just waiting for him to get here!

Almost 31 Weeks...

I should have kept this thing updated throughout the pregnancy, however I have been very busy and just never thought about it. So from here on out I will update-even once the baby is here!
We are going to hit week 31 on Friday! What a fantastic journey this has been. Colton David will be here before we all know it. I cannot wait for him to get here. We had an ultrasound done on Monday and they estimate his weight to be about 3lbs 8oz. He is right where he should be at the 50th percentile! That is fabulous news since they suspect a mild case of gestational diabetes! As long as I can keep him average we are golden!
This is our favorite picture of him from the ultrasound. He has the most adorable face and he was moving around the whole time. He even put his hand in his mouth! He was just so darn cute. David never really did grasp what he was seeing, but everything was good! She said he looks perfect.
We are expecting to be induced early. Probably around 39 weeks. I am hoping they will induce me so that the baby can be born on my dads birthday which is March 16th. That would be so awesome for him to be born on my dads birthday! March is already full of so many family birthdays.
That is all I have to update on right now, but I will keep updated!
